The music Industry contributes to the economy worldwide because it is so universally loved by people all over the globe. Therefore, even people of modest incomes will find a way to spend money on concerts, CD's, DVD's, Itune's, and phone music apps. So when you think about all the different ways that people enjoy music and are willing to spend their money on it, it is obvious that these funds are distributed throughout the economy globally. A Belmont and Nashville study indicated that there is an estimate of 19,437 jobs directly related to music production, just in that region of the country. These jobs provide $722 million in annual labor income, and pay an average wage of $37, 200. There are also 19,826 jobs that are indirectly created when music industry employees spend their income. Some of these related jobs might be people in the construction industry that build housing, people in the transportation industry, lodging, and restaurants. Music related tourism creates 14, 995 jobs, bringing the total employment related to music just in Nashville to 54, 000. Sales taxes from core music business is $24 million. These taxes are rolled back into the local community and directly impact the quality of life of the citizens.
