Baseball

 The sport of baseball, also known as the national pastime has an enormous economic impact throughout the national economy. For instance, team such as the New York Yankees, not only make most of their players very wealthy within annual payroll of $206 million dollars, they also sell millions of dollars in tickets, concessions, and merchandise. In relation to these on-site expenditures, there are thousands of people payed to manufacture the merchandise,and administer ticket sales and concessions. Also there are many thousands of retail facilities that are employing many people and making a lot of money providing dining, lodging, and transportation, not only for players and staff, but for the millions of people to see the team play."Historically, out of town visitors constitute some 40%  of Cardinals attendance, and their spending on dining and lodging provides a significant added boost to the regional economy."  In addition to this, the teams pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in property taxes for the stadiums they play in, which has an impact on the income the cities where the stadiums are located have to spend on other necessities for their citizens. And finally there are the millions of dollars in revenue produced by televised games and the commercial ads that are purchased by many different companies, as well as a large amount of revenue from pay-per-view cable viewers.
